busy but happy.
i've been really, really busy lately. but i think that's a good thing... despite the fact that i keep forgetting to do things, keep in contact with people, maintain friendships, etc... i keep thinking that at some point things will slow down and i'll have time to "catch up," but the more i think about it, the more i realize that's probably never going to happen.
i just signed up to sit on a panel at SXSW. i had initially proposed a panel, which was basically the same as the panel i'm now going to sit on... but this other guy proposed his version before me, so i guess they had to go with his. it'll be on the future of radio/internet radio, and it's on tuesday march 14th from 11:30am-12:30pm. should be fun. i really enjoyed the panel i did at the ROCKRGRL music conference, and a lot of people came up to me afterwards to tell me that they really learned a lot from it, so i think it's a good thing to do. and, of course, i'm insanely excited about the rest of SXSW. the more band names they release the more excited i get. and i get to see my friend brent who moved to austin! yay!!
my birthday is coming up in a week... which means a new tattoo, a party, and dinner at my favorite restaurant. this year, we're doing the usual group aquarian birthday party, but it looks like it's going to be a lot bigger/crazier than it has been in the past few years. i'm excited because pete's going to be in town from new york, zach's coming up from LA, and creighton and rebbie are coming into town, too. :) somehow, birthdays are more fun when you get to celebrate them with lots of other people.
i haven't written anything in here in a long time, i just realized. some other cool stuff has happened since i last did, like i won as one of "the 2005 best djs of the bay" from the sf bay guardian. that was a bit of a surprise, and really flattering. it's nice to know that people like the stuff that i do, especially since i just do it for the love of the music. :)
the casanova lounge decided to let me and rosemary and our standing night of 2 1/2 years go, because one of the bartenders wanted our night. that sucked. rose and i dj'ed a night at the argus in january, and i've done some djing at bottom of the hill, but i haven't set up anything ongoing yet. not sure what i'm going to do about that. i have my sights set on a place or two that i might end up at... i'll be sure to let everyone know when/if i do get something permanent-like.
i've been on a few trips since i last wrote: one to seattle, for the aformentioned ROCKRGRL music conference; one to minnesota for xmas; and one to the big island of hawai'i with julie to visit her godparents. they were all really great trips, and all in completely different ways. the trip to hawai'i was especially fun. bett and richard were wonderful hosts, and it was fun to stay in a house in the jungle. we got to see a whole lot of lava, swim with sea turtles, and one day we hiked out to a cove where we had all the beaches to ourselves. it was heavenly.
i've been drawing and painting lately, but haven't posted anything new here. maybe i'll try to get that done this weekend. along with getting my hawai'i pictures up. :)
