new design!

i finally finished my new design! it only took several months, a few different designs (that i designed and then rejected), and a few weeks of finally coding up the one i decided i liked enough. woot!

stuff is good. i broke up with my boyfriend in, er, the end of march? which was long after i probably should have. it wasn't a bad breakup, it seemed to go pretty smoothly. he moved out of our apartment, and i got a new roommate, mike. mike's a nice guy, he runs a tree business, and is in the process of getting a divorce, which means he's not around much, which is exactly what i wanted in a roommate. i am, unfortunately, still holding some residual anger about my ex, which i need to work through, but i think that takes some time. i do wish he'd stop moving in on all my friends that i introduced him to... i suppose that's the trouble with dating someone your friends liked, they keep inviting him to parties and shit after you break up. i'd just like a nice period of time where i didn't have to see him at all.

it's been good for me, though, as i've been painting a lot more lately, as well as drawing, doing more photography, etc. i'm in the middle of a painting right now that i'm feeling really pleased with. it makes me really happy when i'm painting regularly - it's kind of like a catch-22, really. i only really paint when i'm happy, and when i paint, it makes me happier, which makes me want to paint more...

been going to a lot of shows lately, which is also fun. saw the pixies this week, by surprise (got a phone call from my friend charlie saying 'i'm at the warfield, for the pixies, and i'm holding an extra free ticket in my hand, you wanna come down?' hell yeah!). woot! also saw my friend tim's band the decoration at 12 galaxies (it'd be ages since they played last!), and they sounded great. this upcoming week is the mission creek music festival, and i'm planning on going to at least one show. yay!

i'll be djing next on wednesday june 15th, at the casanova. if you have time, you should come down. it'll be fun, as always!

i've also been working on putting together an indie pop rocks! compilation cd for somafm, that'll be given away as a 'donation reward' when someone donates, er, i think we decided on $25. i got a great lineup of bands to donate songs for it, and we're hoping to get it out sometime in july. i'm really looking forward to getting it completed!

speaking of indie pop rocks!, stuff is going really well with it and somafm. we just recently started streaming on cell phones, which might sound silly for most people, but apparently there is this new nokia phone coming out that is sort of like a little mini-ipod kind of thing, and when it does, i think it'll be a popular thing. we're still hoping to garner attention from xm and sirius, and hopefully one or the other will find us interesting enough to want to add somafm to their roster (with some stations that will be a bit different than what we currently broadcast, but the same idea - like a chill channel that is groove salad during the day, and more drone zone-ish at night, or the indie pop channel would be more poppy during the day, more mellow dreamy pop at night, that sort of thing). it'd be really great if that happened - i'd love to work for somafm for a living, not just as a labor of love. if you're reading this and you have a subscription to sirius or xm, you could help us out by emailing/writing them and requesting that somafm be added. *grin*

i guess that's about it for now. time to get back to my painting. :)
