lots of good news.
seems like there's lots of really great stuff going on lately. it's a welcome relief after earlier this summer,
dealing with steve's death, and then my grandpa's. i miss them a lot.
SomaFM, after winning Best of
the Bay from San Francisco's Bay Guardian this year, has gone on to sign
with NPR. NPR will be carrying
Groove Salad starting this week. How cool is that?
i was just offered and accepted fulltime employment with c|net.
i've been contracting for c|net for a few months, and i have really, really enjoyed working there. i was surprised
and touched by all the kind words i got from my coworkers when my manager made the announcement to the team.
i've been really busy with indie pop rocks!, as always... but a bit more so lately. i started doing interviews
again, which i've been airing every wednesday at 1pm GMT and again at 1pm pacific, and those have been really fun. my
current kick with the interviews is to attend a show, and get the headlining band to interview the opener. these interviews are
especially great as oftentimes the bands have been on tour together for a while, have some history, and genuine questions
for each other that they finally get to ask.
i also started a new fun little thing that i call my 'regional showcase'. i play a bunch of bands that are all
from the same city, state, or country,
and then let people guess what the region in question was. i started doing it just on mondays at 1pm GMT & 1pm
pacific, but they're such fun that i'm doing them on fridays now, too.
i made a myspace page for indie pop rocks! back
in march? (i think it was march...) which has been really great for the station. it's a good way to connect with the
artists, bands, labels, and fans, all in the same place. i love it.
i have a great new roommate, chris. he's an old friend of mine, and he's also from minnesota. he's really easy to live with,
and just a genuinely nice guy. i look forward to coming home and getting to hang out with him, even if just for a little
while. it's a really nice feeling. it's only been a few weeks since he moved in, but it's all good so far. it was also
really nice that i didn't even have to deal with posting to any lists or anything looking for a new roommate. chris emailed
me one day saying he heard i needed a roommate, and it just went from there. it was really easy. easy is good.
so, i think i'm finally working my way out of the bit of a funk i was in, after my breakup and then the loss of life.
i've actually been getting crushes again, which is kind of exciting and fun. yay!
